Introduction
Altace is in the group of medicines known as ACE (angiotensin converting enzyme) inhibitors and is used for curing hypertension (high blood pressure), for enhancing survival after heart attack or congestive heart failure. It is also sold as Prilace in Australia by Arrow Pharmaceuticals, Tritace by Sanofi-Aventis and Altace in United States by King Pharmaceuticals, Altace in Canada by Sanofi and Ramipro in Philippines by Westfield Pharma. It is basically an angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor used for curing congestive heart failure and high blood pressure. It might also be used alone or in combination with thiazide diuretics. In patients 55 years or older at high risk of developing a major cardiovascular event, this medicine is indicated for reducing the risk of myocardial infarction, death from cardiovascular causes or stroke.
Doses of Altace
  • You can take Altace as recommended by your doctor; however not in smaller or larger amounts.
  • Your doctor might occasionally change the dose to ensure you get better results.
  • You can take Ramipril with or without food.
  • You might open the capsule and sprinkle medicine in 4 ounces of water, applesauce or apple juice to make swallowing easier.
  • You can take the missed dose as soon as you remember; however don’t take the additional dose to make the missed one.
  • Store Altace at room temperature away from heat and moisture.
