Adalat belongs to the group of medicines known as calcium channel blockers and relaxes your blood vessels (arteries and veins) making it easier for the heart to pump and reducing its workload. It is used for curing high blood pressure (hypertension) and chest pain (angina). Also known as Nifediac, Nifedipine, Nifedical, Procardia and Cordipin, Adalat is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker. The main uses include antihypertensive and antianginal, albeit a large number of other indications have currently been found for this drug; these include painful spasms of oesophagus like tetanus and cancer patients, Raynaud’s phenomenon and premature labour.
Doses of Adalat
  • You can take Nifedipine or Adalat as recommended by your doctor; however not in smaller or larger amounts and not for longer than prescribed.
  • Your physician might occasionally change the dose to ensure you get best results.
  • You can take this medicine on empty stomach; nonetheless don’t crush, break or chew the extended release tablet.
  • Inform your doctor, if you have ongoing diarrhoea or vomiting.
  • Take the missed dose as soon as you remember.
  • Store Adalat tablets at room temperature away from heat and moisture.
