Betagan is an eye drop that is used for curing open-angle glaucoma and other causes of high pressure inside the eye. Also known as levobunolol ophthalmic, it is a beta-blocker, a main active ingredient of Betagan medicine which acts by reducing pressure inside eyes. It contains an active ingredient called levobunolol hydrochloride that’s a kind of drug known as beta-blocker and is used for reducing the pressure inside the eyeball. The pressure within the eyeball is naturally maintained by continuous flow of liquid known as aqueous humour through eyeball.
Doses of Betagan
  • Use Betagan as recommended by your doctor; however not in smaller or larger amounts and not for longer than prescribed.
  • Wash your hands before and after using this medication.
  • Avoid using Betagan while you are wearing contact lenses in your eyes.
  • Don’t use eye drops if you observe that the liquid has changed colors or has particles in it.
  • Take the missed dose as soon as you remember; don’t take extra dose to make up the missed one.
  • Get emergency medical help, in case of overdose; symptoms include swelling, rapid weight gain or fainting.
  • Store Betagan at room temperature away from heat and moisture. Do not keep it in cold space to freeze it.
