Buspar is an anti-anxiety drug, which affects chemicals in your brain and cause anxiety and might become unbalanced. It is used for curing symptoms of anxiety, including tension, fear, dizziness, irritability, pounding heartbeat and other physical symptoms. Also known as Buspirone, it is an anxiolytic psychoactive drug of azapirone chemical group and is mainly used to treating GAD (generalized anxiety disorder). In the year 1986, BMS (Bristol-Myers Squibb) gained FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approval for this medicine in the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder. Bristol-Myers Squibb patent placed on Buspirone expired in the year 2001 and it is now offered as generic medicine.
Doses of BuSpar :
  • You can take Buspar as recommended by your doctor; however not in small or large amounts and not for longer than prescribed.
  • It is usually taken for only short time, such as three or four weeks. Your doctor might occasionally change the dosage to ensure you get better results.
  • Buspar can be taken with or without food, but take it the same time every day.
  • Buspar Dividose tablet might need to be broken before you use this drug, as the tablets contain special scored marks on them to make breaking tablet easy.
  • While using this medicine, you might need frequent blood tests at your doctor's office.
  • Missed dose can be taken as soon as you remember; however don’t take additional dose to make up the missed one.
  • Get emergency medical help, in case of overdose.
  • Store Buspar at room temperature away from heat, light and moisture.
