Celexa is an antidepressant that belongs to the class of medications called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors and is used for curing depression. Also known as Citalopram under trade names Cipramil and Celexa, it is an antidepressant drug of SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) class and has U.S. FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approval for curing major depression. It is recommended off-label for other situations and is orally administered with chemical structure unrelated to that of other SSRIs or of tetracyclic, tricyclic or other available antidepressant agents.
Doses of Celexa :
  • Celexa can be taken as recommended by your doctor; however not in smaller or larger amounts and not for longer than prescribed.
  • The liquid form must be measured with the special dose measuring cup or spoon.
  • It takes around four weeks before symptoms improve, so keep using this medicine as directed.
  • Missed dose can be taken as soon as you remember; don’t take additional dose to make up the missed one.
  • Get medical help in case of overdose; symptoms include nausea, coma, vomiting, seizures, tremor, fainting, sweating, confusion and rapid heartbeat.
