Product Details
Generic Name: Warfarin
Brand Name: Coumadin
Coumadin is an anticoagulant that reduces the formation of blood clots and is used for curing strokes, heart attacks and blood clots in arteries and veins. Also known as Warfarin and marketed under trade names Marevan, Jantoven, Waran, Warfant and Lawarin, it is an anticoagulant usually used for curing thromboembolism and thrombosis, formation of blood clots in blood vessels and their migration elsewhere in body respectively. It was originally launched in the year 1948 as a pesticide against mice and rats and is still used for this purpose. However, it was approved for use as a medication in the year 1954 and has remained popular ever since. In spite of its effectiveness, treatment with Warfarin has several shortcomings.
