Effexor is an antidepressant medicine in a group of medicines known as selective norepinephrine and serotonin reuptake inhibitors that affects chemicals in brain, which might cause depression and become unbalanced. It is also used for curing major depressive disorder, panic disorder and anxiety. Also known as Venlafaxine, Effexor is an antidepressant of SNRI (serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor) class. Now sold by Pfizer and originally introduced in the year 1993 by Wyeth, it is licensed for treatment of MDD (major depressive disorder), as a treatment for comorbid indications and generalized anxiety disorder in several anxiety disorders with depression. Doses of Effexor :
  • Effexor can be taken as recommended by your doctor; nonetheless not in smaller or larger amounts and not for longer than prescribed.
  • It should be taken with food and at the same time every day. Don’t chew or crush the extended release capsule; swallow it whole.
  • It might take around four weeks for your symptoms to improve, so keep using this medicine and inform your doctor if symptoms don’t improve after four weeks of treatment.
