Lamictal is a famous anti-epileptic medication which is also known as anticonvulsant. It is used for the treatment of epileptic seizures in adults as well as children. This medicine is used in the combination with other medicines. This also helps to delay the mood changes in adults with bipolar disorder such as manic depression. An orally disintegrating tablet (immediate-release form of lamotrigine) can be given to the children above 2 years old when it is a part of combination of seizures medications. This medicine should not be used as a single medication in children younger than 16 years old. The extended-release form of lamotrigine medicine is used in only adults and children who are at least 13 years old.
Doses of Lamictal
  • You can take Lamictal as prescribed by your doctor; however not in smaller or larger amounts and not for longer than prescribed.
  • You blood may need to be tested often to ensure you get better results.
  • Don’t crush, chew or break the tablet; swallow it whole.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine without informing your doctor.
  • Take the missed dose as soon as you remember; don’t take additional dose to make up the missed one.
  • In case of overdose, get emergency medical help; symptoms include blurred vision, feeling light-headed or fainting.
  • Store this medicine at room temperature away from heat and moisture.
