Naprosyn is a NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) that works by reducing hormones, which cause pain and inflammation in the body. It is in the class of medicines called NSAID and is used for curing signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis. It is also used for the relief of mild-to-moderate pain accompanied by inflammation in injuries (such as strains and sprains); menstrual cramps and minor pains and aches in bones, joints and muscles. It reduces inflammation and swelling and relieves pain by reducing substance in the body, which leads to pain and inflammation. Also known as Naproxen, it is sold under plenty of brand names; these include Anaprox, Aleve, Apranax, Antalgin, Flanax, Feminax Ultra, Midol Extended Relief, Inza, Naposin, Nalgesin, Naprogesic, Naprelan, Narocin, Naprosyn, Soproxen, Proxen, Xenobid and Synflex. Naprosyn was approved by United States Food and Drug Administration in the year 1994 as over-the-counter medicine.
Doses of Naprosyn
  • Take Naprosyn exactly as recommended by your healthcare provider or as directed on the label; you should not use in small or large quantity or for longer than prescribed.
  • It is a slower acting form of Naproxen and is used only to cure ankylosing spondylitis or arthritis.
  • Don’t break, chew or crush the enteric-coated tablet; swallow it whole. The liquid form of Naprosyn must be shaken well before use and must be measured with a special dose measuring cup or spoon and not with the standard spoon.
  • Since this medicine is used as required, you might not be on the dosing schedule. Missed dose can be taken once you remember; don’t take additional dose for making up the missed one.
  • Get emergency medical help, in case of overdose as symptoms might include severe forms of side effects.
  • Store Naprosyn at room temperature away from heat and moisture.
