Robaxin is a muscle relaxant that works by blocking nerve impulses, which are sent to your brain. It is used in combination with physical and rest therapy for curing skeletal situations including injury or pain. Also called Methocarbamol, it is a carbamate of guaifenesin; however doesn’t develop guaifenesin as metabolite as carbamate bond isn’t hydrolyzed metabolically. It contains an active ingredient called methocarbamol for relaxing tense back muscles. Don’t use this medication, if you are sensitive to it. Before using this drug, inform your healthcare provider if you are suffering from myasthenia gravis. Robaxin might harm your reactions or thinking, so be careful while driving or doing anything, which needs you to be active. Avoid drinking alcohol, as it might increase the risk of side effects.
Doses of Robaxin
  • Use Robaxin exactly as recommended by your doctor; however not in small or large quantity or for longer than prescribed.
  • You might need to reduce the dosage after initial two or three days of treatment.
  • It can cause unusual results with several medical tests, so inform your healthcare provider before using this medicine.
  • This medication is just a part of complete program of treatment, which might also include physical therapy, rest or other measures of pain relief.
  • Missed dose can be taken once you remember; don’t use additional dose for making up the missed one.
  • Get emergency medical help, in case of overdose as symptoms might include convulsions (seizures), extreme drowsiness or fainting.
  • Store Robaxin at room temperature away from heat and moisture.
