Yasmin (ethinyl estradiol and drospirenone) prevents the release of egg from ovary (ovulation) and also cause changes in your uterine lining and cervical, making it harder for fertilized egg to attach to uterus and harder for sperm to reach the uterus. It is used as contraception for preventing pregnancy and also for treating moderate acne in women who wish to use birth control pills for preventing pregnancy and who are at least 14 years old and have started having menstrual periods.
Doses of Yasmin
  • You can take Yasmin as recommended by your doctor; nevertheless not in smaller or larger amounts and not for longer than prescribed.
  • Take this medicine on the first day of your period or on first Sunday after your period starts.
  • Keep back-up birth control, in case of missing dose.
  • Take just one pill every day and keep at least 24 hours between the each dose.
  • Take Yasmin with glass full of water and with or without food.
  • Take the missed dose once you remember; don’t take additional dose to make up the missed one.
  • In case of overdose, seek emergency medical attention; symptoms include vomiting, vaginal bleeding and nausea.
  • Store this medicine at room temperature away from heat and moisture.
